The general methodological approach of the project is based on the following assumptions:

• An ambitious approach in the scientific-technical goals based on in-depth theoretical developments aimed at obtaining algorithmic designs capable of achieving competitive advantage in the mid-term.

• Consideration of the general problems of data transmision and information extraction from data in distributed systems, and their relationship.

• Application of multidisciplinar and complimentary techniques to both data transmission and distributed information extraction problems to obtain efficient algorithms and performance measures and limits.

• The practical application of the theoretical developments by means of the implementation of technological prototypes for specific applications: indoor navigation, domestic monitoring (with special emphasis in the care of dependent or handicapped people), and security in large-scale indoor facilities.
